Faculty Funding Updates and Deadlines:

Research / Creative Work Funding Requests for 2015-2016 - Apply Now

The Committee on Faculty Resources announces that it is now accepting requests for funding of Faculty Research and Creative Work for 2015-2016 fiscal year (July 1, 2015-June 30, 2016).

A full description of the application process is here.

Requests submitted by May 1, 2015 are guaranteed to receive a response by June 1, 2015. Therefore, all requests involving summer activities must be submitted by May 1. 

 

Mellon Faculty Career Enhancement Grants for 2015-2016 - Apply Now

The Committee on Faculty Resources announces that it is now accepting applications for funding of faculty pedagogy, course, and program development projects, for activities between now and March 30, 2016.

Requests submitted by May 1, 2015 are guaranteed to receive a response by June 1, 2015. Therefore, all requests involving summer activities should be submitted by May 1. 

 

Reimbursement of 2014-2015 Research/Creative Work, Mellon Grant, and Conference Travel Expenses - Requests Due by June 1, 2015

All requests for reimbursement for Research/Creative Work and Conference Travel Allocations for the current fiscal year (for activities before June 30, 2015) must be submitted by June 1, 2015, except in the rare cases of activities occurring during June 1-30.

Please remember that the reimbursement process is a three-step process:

  1. Submit the appropriate online Reimbursement Request and Report Form:
  2. Complete and sign a Travel Expense Report Envelope (available in Business Office).

  3. Submit the completed and signed envelope, with detailed receipts, along with supporting materials (e.g. papers for conferences, syllabi for Mellon Grants, etc.) to Debie Polillo in Old Main 208. Update: until further notice, please deposit these requests in the Dean's Office, Old Main 106.

 

Conference Travel Allocations Requests - Form is Currently Inactive

CoFR is currently revising the policies and forms for conference travel. During the transition between the current fiscal year cycle and the next, the online CTA Request form will be inactive. Please contact Mike Schneider at facultydevelopment@knox.edu if you have questions about conference travel allocations.

The online form for Conference Travel Allocation Requests for 2015-2016 (for travel after July 1, 2015) will soon be launched. Please watch for the announcement in the the Faculty Development Newsletter.

 

 

Faculty Development Opportunity:

Symposium on Field Study: Call for Papers on Experiential Learning - Still Accepting Proposals

Colorado College, with support from the Associated Colleges of the Midwest, has issued a call for proposals for their inaugural 2015 Symposium on Field Study: Establishing Best-Practices at the Intersection of Place, Pedagogy, Innovation and Technology. The symposium will be held at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, July 8-11, 2015. The aim of this unique symposium is to gather the best practitioners of the college field trip.

Many current Knox experiential learning activities, immersion terms, and short-term off-campus study programs would be particularly relevant to this symposium. Presenters receive a $500 stipend as well as travel expenses.
