Thanks to Cameron Pizor's success in the 2000 competition using a finch egg, the rules for the Egg Drop contest now specify the use of CHICKEN eggs.

This year there were 9 contestants (5 solo entries and 2 two-person teams) with 8 entered designs.
Spectators in the SMC north stairwell eagerly anticipate the next competitor's attempt.
This year's competition yielded a record number of successful entrants to the "egg-drop" category, with five mishap-free drops. In the "egg-catch" category, we had no successful designs, but a good number of spectacular failures. In the spirit of good sportsmanship Prof. Schulz withdrew his successful "drop" entry from prize consideration.
