Knox College and the city of Galesburg were founded at the same time, and have always been interconnected communities. You'll find that many businesses (including realtors) and financial institutions, as well as local professional and political associations, are willing and eager to help Knox faculty to secure the service or goods they provide; many include Knox graduates in their ranks. Banks, realtors, physicians, and attorneys often see Knox faculty as valuable (and credit-worthy) clients. They are willing to give special attention to your requests to go the extra mile in securing your patronage. This can prove to be very beneficial in purchasing a house or car. In turn, it's good to think about the ways we can contribute ourselves to the community. Town/gown relations go in two directions.

Consider, too, joining the Heritage Credit Union, which provides low-cost loans and payroll deductions for savings to its members, both faculty and staff.
